Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of arrangement. Think of it as acupuncture in the building. Just as the acupuncture specialist adjusts the body’s energy flow with needles, so does Feng Shui practitioner use objects to redirect the flow of energy indoors or outdoors. The skills of the acupuncture specialist bring health to a patient; the results of this Feng Shui science lead to the achievement of a harmonious and healthy environment. Both contribute immensely to improving the quality of human life.

In a simpler experience, Feng Shui is a system of arranging the environment so that it is in harmony and balance with nature. When your environment is calm and in harmony with the powerful universal forces, so are you. So is your life.

Once you understand the principles of Feng Shui, it will be very easy for you to apply this practice, and you will discover that it will become an integral part of your life. It may seem daunting at first, with so much guidance to remember, so take it easy. After you make a few changes to your interior design and begin to appreciate the resulting harmony, you will be encouraged to continue, and then Feng Shui will become a remarkable art of living. You will be pleasantly surprised at how quickly you grasp the meanings and also how familiar they seem to you. This is because a very large part of Feng Shui is based on practical common sense.

Of course, harmonious living depends not only on one, but on all the occupants of the house. If you have four family members – two parents and two children – and your personal Kua numbers suggest that three of you need to sleep in the room in the southwestern part of the house, what do you do? The answer is to take advantage of the flexibility of Feng Shui. Allocate the bedrooms as best you can and then let everyone customize their space. The common rooms, for example the living room, the living room and the kitchen, can be enhanced so as to benefit the whole family.

Wind and Water

In Chinese, the term Feng Shui means “wind and water”. These two elements are a metaphor for the power of nature in our world and for the undeniable importance of respecting this power in arranging the details of our daily lives. In the case of a good Feng Shui arrangement, natural elements are used and the patterns of nature are imitated – the curved line of the landscapes, the wind breeze, the movement of the water – while balancing the universal forces that affect our destiny.

Kua Number

Calculation for males:

  • add the last two digits of the year of birth. If the result is also two digits, add the latter again to get a single digit.
  • subtract this number from 10 and the result is your Kua Number

for example: the year of birth is 1982, then we have 8 + 2 = 10; 1 + 0 = 1; 10 – 1 = 9, so the Kua Number is 9

Calculation for females:

  • add the last two digits of the year of birth. If the result is also two digits, add the latter again to get a single digit.
  • add to this digit the number 5. If the result is also from two digits add them and the latter once again to get a single digit and this is your Kua Number.

for example: the year of birth is 1979, then we have 7 + 9 = 16; 1 + 6 = 7; 5 + 7 = 12; 1 + 2 = 3, so the Kua Number is 3.
